President confirms expansion of the FTC coverage area to Misiones and Itapúa

Asunción, IP Agency.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, confirmed this Friday the expansion of the coverage area of ​​the Joint Task Force (FTC) to the departments of Misiones and Itapúa. “It’s a decision made,” he said.

«We are expanding coverage to the department of Canideyú, Misiones and Itapúa, which we believe will be a very important commitment. This will also require a strong investment in security but it is also a decision made,” the president said this Friday during his visit to Itapúa.

Recently, the Minister of National Defense, Oscar González, had reported that after the extension of the area of ​​operations of the Internal Defense Command (CODI-FTC) to the department of Canindeyú, the project was being developed that would allow it to extend its presence to the south of the country.

The Minister of Defense also highlighted the strengthening of the armed forces, one of the Government’s objectives, to fight organized crime and guarantee internal security.

Added to this is the project to increase investment for security forces, both police and military, with an Itaipu investment of US$90 million for the next three years.

This greater coordination between the different security agencies gave important results, such as the Veneratio operations, which allowed the recovery of control of the Tacumbú penitentiary, Dakovo, which disrupted an international arms trafficking network, and other operations to combat organized crime factions. with presence in our country, highlighted the minister.
