The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, reaffirmed his commitment to the Salvadoran people and expressed that, just as his administration managed to heal the country of gangs, the same will happen with the economy and poverty.
The President said that when his government launched the war once morest gangs, it received a lot of criticism from the “international community” that did not understand the reality of the country. Despite these condemnations, El Salvador transformed itself from being the most unsafe country in the world to the safest in the Western Hemisphere.
Now, as he faces oligopolistic cartels and mafias to improve the economy and get out of poverty, Bukele said that criticism is once once more emerging from abroad. However, he stressed that it would be a mistake not to follow his own strategy, which has already proven effective in the past.
Bukele expressed confidence in repeating the previous success, stating: “God willing, we will do it once more.”
