President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a decree appointing Counselor Shawky Fathi as Attorney General, starting next September 19, to succeed Counselor Hamada El-Sawy, whose term of office ends on this date.
We publish, within the lines, the biography of the new Attorney General:
— Counselor Mohamed Shawky Fathi – Deputy of All Egypt as of next September 19, born on May 9, 1957 in Gharbia Governorate, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law in 1979 – Mansoura University.
Appointed in the Public Prosecution on the first of June of the year 1980, then on September 28 of the year 1985 he became an agent of the Public Prosecutor of the excellent category in the Public Prosecution Offices of East Alexandria and the Public Prosecution Office in Alexandria, and he continued his work in the Public Prosecution until September 30 of the year 1989.
He was appointed as a judge in the Courts of First Instance on October 1, 1989, then he was promoted to the rank of Chief Court until September 2, 1993.
He was appointed head of the Public Prosecution at the Alexandria Appeal Prosecution Office on September 3, 1993, and continued his work there until September 30, 1995. Then, on October 1, 1995, he became head of the Public Prosecution Office in the Judicial Inspection of the Public Prosecution Office. He was promoted to the rank of judge in the Courts of Appeal on June 16, 1999, then Deputy President of the Court of Appeal. On June 25, 2003, he was promoted to the rank of “President of Appeal” at the Courts of Appeal on June 30, 2005.
He was appointed from the first of October 2010 until the 30th of September 2012 as a member of the technical office of the Cairo Court of Appeal, then he was seconded to work as a judge in the courts of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, starting from the first of October 2012 for a period of 6 years. On August 18, 2019, he headed the technical office of the Tanta Court of Appeal, then was appointed Undersecretary of the General Administration for Judicial Inspection Affairs at the Ministry of Justice on February 25 of the year 2020.
