The head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Representative Taymour Jumblatt, indicated that “the party will remain the party of struggle for preserving Lebanon’s institutions and true dialogue, not a Lebanon of vacancy and obstruction.”
In a speech he delivered following announcing that he won the party’s presidency by acclamation, he stressed, “We will proceed in the paths of action to complete the presidential election away from the fronts of rejection for the sake of economic reform and the rights and dignity of citizens.”
MP Jumblatt continued, “We will carry together the values of democratic Arabism in the face of petrification and racism, and we will raise high the flag of Palestine and the ideology of human socialism.”
He also stressed that “Walid Jumblatt’s journey, which he adorned with the voice of reason, is worth the effort for the sake of this country.”
