Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has a big plan to protect historical places. The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism has selected 64 sites to protect. These include Abu Dhabi Bus Terminal to Etisalat Headquarters and Albateen Mall to Intercontinental Hotel. Abu Dhabi Takisi Stand, National Theatre, Al Jazeera Hospital, Al Ain’s Old Central Market and Al Ain Radisson Blu Hotel are among the long list of 64 buildings selected for preservation.
The Department of Culture and Tourism has prepared a list of buildings and heritage sites to be preserved. The authorities stated that these buildings will not be allowed to be demolished and will be repaired and protected. Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the department, said that the action is part of the mission to protect the cultural identity of the emirate.
