What a shock for RTL presenter Lola Weippert: During her vacation in the South African metropolis of Cape Town, the 26-year-old was robbed and even injured. She tearfully reports on the dramatic experience in a new video that she shared on Instagram. “If you think you’re safe in Cape Town – don’t be too sure,” Lola begins, pointing her finger at the bruises on her face. “I was hit here on the side, I have glass in my eye here.”
She goes on to explain how the incident happened: “We were suddenly attacked at the traffic light by a guy who had a stone in his hand and smashed my window.” The perpetrator wanted to snatch her mobile phone from the TV fame – but without success. Instead, he stole her Cartier bracelet. In her opinion, this is the reason why everything ultimately went smoothly, given the circumstances.
As she reports on the dramatic event, Lola keeps wiping tears from her face. Visibly upset and in shock, she finally appealed to her followers: “Take care of yourselves. Do not take cell phones or any valuables into the front of the car. Pack everything away.”
Fans sympathize, but also criticize
Fans of the presenter react shocked and compassionate in the comments: “Oh, shame, I’m so sorry that you had to experience it,” says a user. Another follows: “With all my heart, get well soon and heal – physically and mentally.” But she is also upset that public figures do not talk regarding the problems in South Africa, where she herself lived for two years. In her opinion, it is negligent to think that one is safe there. “There is never a justification for violence. Nevertheless, you should avoid jewelry and stopping at traffic lights and so on, because carjacking is absolutely commonplace,” concludes the follower.
