At more than 3,000 meters above sea level, preparation for the Gran Becca piste is in full swing above Zermatt (VS). In less than a month, the venue is due to host men’s (November 11 and 12), then women’s (November 18 and 19) downhills of the Alpine Skiing World Cup. However, the snow cover is not very good, which requires adjustments.

To ensure that the descenders can descend the mountain in the best conditions, the race organizers have hired several construction machines to prepare the scene. The glacier’s cutting work is impressive – but the procedure is completely standard, its officials say. However, a doubt persists.
