Several earthquakes have struck a large swath of northern California this week, but only minor damage has been reported so far.
A movement of 5.5 degrees, with an epicenter in the tourist region of Lake Almanor in the Sierra Nevada, occurred at 4:19 p.m. on Thursday with an followingshock of 5.2 at 3:18 a.m. on Friday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

People reported feeling the quake as far as Sacramento, regarding 260 kilometers to the south.
The magnitude 5.5 quake was the strongest in California since the 2019 Ridgecrest earthquake sequence, with one measuring a magnitude 7.1, reported Geological Survey seismologist Lucy Jones, who now runs a center that focuses on make communities more resilient to disasters.
