The Nintendo Switch 2 has been the subject of much speculation for several months. While the console’s release date is not yet official, an industry analyst revealed the price it might cost, as well as that of the games that will accompany it. And the least we can say is that you will have to put your hand in your wallet.

A price of 400 euros for the Nintendo Switch 2…

It was Dr. Serkan Toto, from the Japanese consulting company Kantan Games, who provided this information in an article published by GamesIndustry.biz. According to him, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2024 and will be sold for 400 dollars (i.e. approximately 365 euros, to which any taxes will have to be added). Some time ago, a tipster said that it will be offered in two different models, one at €379 and the other at €429 (400 and 450 dollars). So this seems to match previous rumors.

This would represent an increase of a hundred dollars or euros compared to the original Nintendo Switch, which was launched at $299 in 2017 in the United States and €329 here (even if it often traded around 300 euros). This price would place the Nintendo Switch 2 as a slightly less expensive alternative to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

…And games for 70 euros

The analyst also indicated that the price of games for the Nintendo Switch 2 might increase by $10 across the Atlantic. This price, $70, has already become the standard for PS5 and Xbox Series X games, but for now, flagship Nintendo Switch games overall remain $60 as standard.

Nintendo is no stranger to higher prices, however, as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was launched at $70 last year (€69.99 here). The game was very well received by players, who did not mind paying a few euros more to find the world of Hyrule.

A console quite close to the current Nintendo Switch?

The analyst also gave his opinion on the features of the Nintendo Switch 2, which he sees as an evolution rather than a revolution. “ The next system is also likely to be an update rather than a revolution. Nintendo might add some bells and whistles to the device, but it will be similar to the current Switch. »

The Nintendo Switch 2 has not yet been officially confirmed by Nintendo, which is keeping its next console a secret. It is expected to be revealed in February, but nothing is certain. We also don’t know if it will be a sequel to the Nintendo Switch or a completely new platform. Nintendo is used to surprising its fans, so anything is possible.
