Preparations for the Ried Autumn Fair are in full swing

“It will probably be the most exciting and attractive fair this year in Austria,” says Fair Director Helmut Slezak.

In less than a month, the Rieder Autumn and Agricultural Fair will be opened by Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer on Thursday, September 7th. More than 500 exhibitors are represented on the four days of the fair until September 10th – a slight increase compared to 2021. The OÖN are present as media partners.

Two years ago, the execution of the trade fair was on shaky ground for a long time due to the Corona situation. The organizational team at Messe Ried headed by director Helmut Slezak and project manager Fabian Berneder have no such worries this year.

Preparations on the more than 14 hectare exhibition site have long since begun. For Berneder it is the first big autumn fair as project manager.

Friends of the folk festival will get their money’s worth once more this year. The beer tent, the wine hall and the amusement park with around 20 different rides open their doors from August 31st to September 3rd and of course, following a three-day break, once more parallel to the fair.

Admission is free on all eight festival days. In 2021, the folk festival with project manager Philipp Murauer took place over just one (long) weekend. Visitors benefit from discounts for the showmen on the popular children’s followingnoons on August 31 and September 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Large horse shows in Ried

Exhibition Director Helmut Slezak is particularly looking forward to the “Austro Tier”. After a break of 39 years, national mare shows for Noriker (September 7th) and Haflinger (September 10th) including awards will take place for the first time this year. Around 75 mares per breed, some with foals, are expected from all federal states.

Of course, the cattle breeding exhibition of the Fleckvieh Breeding Association Inn- and Hausruckviertel (FIH) should not be missing. This year, the FIH will present its new box system, which enables “free running” auctions, to a broad audience for the first time.

Advance tickets for the Rieder Messe (full price): 11.50 euros, with OÖNcard 10.50 euros. All information and online tickets at www.riedermesse.at
