Preparations are underway for further renovation of the Curonian Spit bicycle path

According to her, a new path will be built from Juodkrantė to Pervalka after the completion of the public procurements currently underway.

“After the successful completion of the public procurement procedures, the reconstruction works of the path will begin from the already reconstructed path to Pervalka, Nagliu dune. The works are planned to be completed in 2024, a more specific date will be clear after the procurement,” LAKD’s comment to BNS states.

According to the directorate, there may be several contractors for the repair of the almost 16-kilometer section, and the tender for the reconstruction of the section between Pervalka and Preila and access roads to these settlements is still being prepared – the previously announced purchase did not take place, and the market is currently being consulted about it.

In July, the repair of the 13.5-kilometer long section from Smiltynė to Juodkrantė was completed, and it cost 5.8 million. EUR (including VAT) was carried out by the company “YIT Lietuva”.

The total length of the Smiltynė–Nida trail is about 50 kilometers, and after its repair, it will be managed in parts by Klaipėda and Neringa municipalities.

The first section of this path from Pervalka to the beach was installed back in 1978. Later, separate sections of the trail were built at different times.
