The Viennese RadioKulturhaus is celebrating its 25th anniversary these days: the end of the events surrounding this anniversary is today, Saturday, a celebratory concert in the large broadcasting hall, which represents a clear commitment to contemporary Austrian music: the program includes two commissioned compositions, which were Experience their world premiere tonight.
On the one hand, “11 songs for 2 machines” by Wolfgang Mitterer, played by himself as a “music machinist” on the Schuke organ in the broadcasting hall and on the computer connected to it. And on the other hand “Zieff – Notes on a Genius” by trumpeter Franz Koglmann, dedicated to Bob Zieff, known to those in the know as a composer for trumpeter Chet Baker in the 1950s. Koglmann also acts as an interpreter of himself, in a quintet with Mario Arcari (oboe, cor anglais), Sandro Miori (soprano and tenor saxophone, flute, alto flute), Attila Pasztor (cello) and Gerhard Laber (percussion). Ö1 will broadcast this evening live with the two exciting concert premieres!
