The airline company low cost TUI Fly Belgium baptized and then commissioned the first of the three Embraer E195-E2 leased from AerCap.
After having been baptized “Flanders” during a ceremony at the airportAntwerp on June 19, 2023, the first E2 from the Belgian low-cost flight specialist, registered YES-ETCtook off immediately for its first commercial flight to Malaga-Coast of the Floor. The TUI Fly Belgium E195-E2s are configured to accommodate 136 passengers in a single class, 24 more than in the 112-seat E190s (one last example still in operation). “The configuration of the cabin at Embraer (two seats side by side instead of three, very popular with couples) is also retained on the new model”, underlined a press release at the time of the order last October. The radius of action of the E2 also reaches 4455 km instead of 1900; but it will be limited to 2280 km “due to the limited length of the Antwerp track”.
Gunther Hofman, Managing Director of TUI fly Western Region, once once more underlined the enormous efforts of aviation in general and TUI fly in particular when it comes to ecological progress: ” Since our creation, we can, as an airline, present an excellent track record in terms of fleet renewal. Just think of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the four Embraer E190s in 2013 or the four Boeing 737-8s in 2018. As with the previous introduction of new aircraft types, it is Belgium that has the honor to receive the first models within the TUI Group, and we are very proud of that. We are also the only airline in Belgium to fly with Embraers and we are known for our exceptional expertise with these aircraft. ».
After “Flanders”, the names of the two other E195-E2s which will replace the aircraft in service in Antwerp this year will be “Brussels” and “Wallonia”. TUI Fly Belgium currently has, in addition to the E190, four Boeing 737-700twelve 737-800four 737 MAX 8 (another 10 expected, plus four MAX 10s) and two 787-8 Dreamliner.
