Preliminary work is being carried out on the second bridge over the Monday River

Asunción, IP Agency.- Strip cleaning, land mobilization and opening of roads are some of the first tasks carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), in the work area of ​​the second bridge over the Monday River, in Alto Paraná.

The project – divided into two phases – is promoted by the government through the MOPC and is financed with a loan from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) for up to 212 million dollars.

Since last week you can see an interesting movement of workers and machinery in the place, preparing the ground to start the construction of this vital component of the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor (CDME) very soon.

The first phase that is in its decisive stage is the Final Engineering Review and Design, which has the purpose of making the bridge layout compatible with the other CMDE works, while Phase B includes the construction itself, which will have a term of 18 months.

The second bridge over the Monday River will be the connection between the interurban access of the city of Presidente Franco and the almost 31 km highway that covers the rural area of ​​the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor, exiting at km 17.5 of route PY02 in the district of Minga Guazú.

It will have a length of 500 meters, with a cross section of the design that includes 26.50 meters, 4 carriageways of 3.60 meters; two internal shoulders of 1.30 meters each, separated by a New Jersey type defense of 0.60 meters. It also has two external 1.50 meters with a New Jersey type defense of 0.40 meters, as well as pedestrian paths and bicycle paths of 2.50 meters at both ends of the section.

The contracting company in charge of the tasks is the Puente Monday Consortium (Constructora Heisecke SA and Construpar SA), and the inspection is the responsibility of the JY1 Consortium.

Eastern Metropolitan Corridor

The CMDE consists of a set of civil and road works that will give functionality to the Integration Bridge connecting the cities of Presidente Franco and Foz de Yguazú, Brazil.

There are 6 current contracts; 4 are road infrastructure: rural sector (lots 1 and 2), urban sector or interconnection to the existing network in Presidente Franco and the construction of this second bridge over the Monday River.

In turn, 2 more contracts are in full swing that are for civil works in the primary area and the cargo terminal of the National Navigation and Ports Administration (ANNP), the Ministry of Public Works and Communications reported
