The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has named a preliminary version of the cause of the collapse of a residential building in Astrakhan. This is stated in a message issued by the Russian Investigative Committee on the evening of November 16 published in the official telegram channel of the department.
“According to preliminary data, the collapse occurred during construction and repair work in one of the apartments of the above-mentioned building by unidentified persons, as a result of which the load-bearing structures were damaged,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The body of the owner of one of the apartments, born in 1939, was recovered from the rubble. The number of dead and injured is being determined. A criminal case has been initiated into the incident under the articles “Causing death by negligence” and “Destruction of property by negligence.”
