Pregnant Woman’s Tragic Death after Caesarean Section: Investigation Underway at Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital

It is understood that a pregnant woman in Tsuen Wan Hong Kong Adventist Hospital died following giving birth by caesarean section. The Department of Health replied to “Yahoo News” today (14th) that a private hospital reported a medical risk warning incident on July 6, involving a 31-year-old pregnant woman who died the next day following a caesarean section on July 5.

“Yahoo News” is inquiring regarding the incident with Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital and is waiting for a reply.

The department pointed out that the private hospital has reported the case to the coroner, and the department has also received the investigation report submitted by the hospital. The investigation and follow-up work are still in progress. The Department added that unless it involves major public health incidents, the Department will generally publish the medical risk warning events reported in July on the website of the Regulatory Office of Private Medical Institutions in September.

According to previous reports, Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital also had a death of a pregnant woman on August 4 last year. A 30-year-old pregnant woman died of serious complications following vaginal delivery. The hospital stated at the time that all feasible first aid measures had been activated at that time, including blood transfusion, surgery and intensive care unit care, etc., but unfortunately failed to save the patient’s life.
