A little over a thousand patients were followed at the Asclépiade health center in Brive (Corrèze). After its closure for serious failures in the quality and safety of care, the ARS encourages these patients to carry out screenings, to avoid an infectious risk considered low.

“The shortcomings observed may have exposed patients to a risk of transmission of hepatitis B viruses (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV) and HIV.”

In a press release published this Thursday, March 14, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Health Agency invites patients followed by the Asclepiade associative medical-dental center in Brive, in particular those who have undergone dental treatment (1,100 patients), to have screen.

The ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine specifies that “cThe infectious risk remains low“and offers these screenings”as a precaution“.

Patients who wish can therefore carry out these laboratory screenings, with a prescription from their attending physician. The 308 patients followed at Asclepiade who do not have a treating doctor can go to the dispensary at the Brive hospital center.

The ARS indicates that “cEach patient concerned will be informed individually, by mail, of the screening procedures and the conditions of care (the ARS will finance the remainder payable for patients who do not have mutual insurance in order to avoid any advance of costs). The medical analysis laboratories and doctors in the department will also be informed.

Expired products, lack of hygiene, lack of application of medicine according to the rules of the art, the grievances noted by the Regional Health Agency, during an inspection carried out on December 11, had initially led to a temporary closure of the center. As the shortcomings noted were not remedied, permanent closure was declared.

The screening campaign, announced on March 14, is intended to prevent the risk of infection. Contacted by our editorial staff, the ARS did not wish to grant us an interview.
