MINISTER of Defense and President-elect 2024 Prabowo Subianto emphasized the important role of the TNI and Polri in maintaining stability. Both institutions are asked to work together.
“He (Prabowo) needs a strong TNI and Polri who can work together and synergize to help him realize national goals,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) Marsdya Donny Ermawan Taufanto at Seskoal, South Jakarta, Wednesday, May 8 2024.
This was conveyed in the briefing for the 2024 Joint Activities Program (PKB) for Kejuangan. Donny represented Prabowo who was unable to attend.
Donny said that the TNI and Polri have their respective duties and functions. However, it is also possible for the two institutions to assist each other in their respective operations.
“Because maintaining defense and kamtibmas (security and public order) are somewhat related,” he said.
Donny said that the nation’s challenges in the future would be increasingly difficult. National unity and stability are the keys to Indonesia getting through this.

“The government’s task is heavy so it needs help from state equipment,” he explained.
Donny advised leaders in the TNI and Polri to be role models for their staff. Especially in encouraging solidity.
“It’s not actually a conflict itself and it makes the image of the TNI and Polri not good,” he explained. (Z-7)
