During his visit to Japan, Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto appreciated the statue of General Sudirman on display at the Japanese Ministry of Defense.
This appreciation was conveyed directly by Prabowo to Japanese Defense Minister Kihara Minoru in Tokyo, Wednesday (3/4).
“I want to express my deepest gratitude. I was accepted, even though the notice was very short, I was well received, thank you once more,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo continued that he, representing the government of the Republic of Indonesia, views Japan as a very good friend and partner and has also had a very good relationship for a long time.
“In this ministry, there is a statue of one of our commanders, Commander-in-Chief General Soedirman. If I’m not mistaken, there is a statue in this ministry of defense (Japan). I think that is a sign of our long and close relationship,” said Prabowo.
At the end of the meeting, the two defense ministers exchanged souvenirs, Minister of Defense Kihara presented a clock decorated with gold ornaments and Minister of Defense Prabowo presented a keris which was also wrapped in gold.
It is known that the General Sudirman statue in the Japanese Ministry of Defense has been around since 2011. The statue is made of bronze regarding four meters high. (Z-1)
