As I mentioned at the recent cabinet meeting, we’ve achieved a stable condition, filled with tranquility, which was one of our key objectives. We’ve worked tirelessly to establish a calm and ordered governance, and I believe our actions speak for themselves.
Archyde News: Indeed, your administration has been quite active. Let’s dive into one of your flagship programs,the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) initiative. What inspired this program, and how do you see it benefiting Indonesian children and the nation as a whole?
PS: The MBG program is close to my heart and is a direct response to the significant issue of malnutrition among Indonesian children. According to data from the World Bank, around 37% of Indonesian children under the age of five are stunted due to chronic malnutrition. This has a lasting impact on their cognitive development, productivity, and overall well-being. but if we invest in our children’s nutrition, we’re investing in Indonesia’s future.
The MBG program aims to provide every Indonesian child with access to nutritious, balanced meals. We’re off to a strong start, reaching 650,000 children across 31 provinces in just over two months. Our goal is to reach 15 million children by September, and I’m confident that we’ll see significant advancements in the academic abilities of our children as a result.

PS: Ensuring food and energy independence is crucial for the economic stability and sustainability of our nation. We’re approaching this through a multi-faceted strategy. First, we’ll increase our agricultural productivity by improving infrastructure, providing better access to credit and technology, and diversifying our crops. We’re also exploring regional cooperation to optimize food supplies.
For energy, we’re focusing on renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydropower. This will not only reduce our reliance on imports but also help us meet our climate commitments. We’ve already begun streamlining permitting processes for renewable energy projects. Ultimately, these efforts will lead to lower food and energy prices, easing the burden on Indonesian households.
Archyde News: You’ve also implemented measures to make housing more affordable. Can you tell us more about that?
PS: Access to affordable housing is a fundamental right that we’ve worked to enshrine in our policies. We’ve exempted house-building permit fees for low-income communities,making the housing construction process more accessible and affordable.We’re also exploring partnerships with the private sector to build more affordable housing units.our goal is to help more Indonesians own their own homes and improve their living conditions.
