**Editor:** Good evening, Dr. Lopez. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the upcoming APEC Summit in Lima, Peru.
**Dr. Lopez:** Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here!
**Editor:** As we know, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to attend the APEC High Level Conference from November 11 to 16. What significance does this summit hold for Indonesia, particularly in the context of its economic and diplomatic goals?
**Dr. Lopez:** The APEC Summit is crucial for Indonesia as it provides a platform for collaboration and dialog with other Asia-Pacific countries. For President Prabowo, this is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and showcase Indonesia’s commitment to regional economic integration. It also allows Indonesia to advocate for issues important to its development and trade policies.
**Editor:** Absolutely. The Media Center for this summit has been established to help journalists cover the event effectively. What are your thoughts on the logistical preparations, especially regarding the support for media personnel?
**Dr. Lopez:** The setup of a dedicated media center is vital. By providing facilities like tables, chairs, and even free food and drinks, the organizing committee is ensuring that journalists can focus on reporting rather than worrying about their basic needs. This level of support reflects positively on the host country’s organization of international events.
**Editor:** It seems that the Lima Convention Center will play a significant role during this summit. Could you elaborate on why this location was chosen and its importance?
**Dr. Lopez:** The Lima Convention Center, located in the cultural hub of the city, signifies Peru’s openness and hospitality in hosting such a significant event. Its proximity to important cultural landmarks like the Museo de la Nación enhances the summit’s profile and provides an enriching backdrop for discussions among leaders. Such venues are crucial for fostering a conducive environment for dialog and negotiation.
**Editor:** President Prabowo is expected to deliver a speech on the final day of the summit. What key topics do you think he should address in his remarks?
**Dr. Lopez:** I believe he should focus on sustainable development, climate change, and economic recovery post-pandemic. Highlighting Indonesia’s readiness to collaborate on these issues can position the country as a leader in regional discussions. Additionally, he might want to stress the importance of trade agreements that benefit developing countries within the APEC framework.
**Editor:** It sounds like a critical moment for Indonesia and the entire Asia-Pacific region. Thank you, Dr. Lopez, for your insights on the upcoming APEC Summit and President Prabowo’s role.
**Dr. Lopez:** Thank you for having me! I look forward to seeing the outcomes of the summit.
