PRESIDENT Prabowo Subianto reminded the ranks of ministers in the Red and White Cabinet not to prioritize personal matters in carrying out their duties. This was conveyed when chairing the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, at the President’s Office, Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (23/10).

Prabowo does not deny that each of his staff has their own political interests and groups. However, this must be put aside to focus on developing the country.

“I believe that we must agree that the national interest is the independence and integrity of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

Prabowo reminded all Red and White Cabinet ministers to maintain unity. Because unity is the key to the success of a nation.

“I emphasize the importance of unity, the key source of success for a nation in human history, the key is if the elites work together. The elites are united,” said President Prabowo.

Prabowo also said that unity could be achieved if everyone agreed to prioritize national interests. Especially issues that are vital for the survival of society.

Prabowo did not explain that his comments regarding personal interests were for the minister’s personal interests. However, previously there was a lot of news regarding the Minister for Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, who used the ministry’s official letterhead for personal purposes.

The letter dated 21 October 2024 contains an invitation to Mrs. Yandri Susanto’s 2nd Haul (death anniversary), at the BAI Mahdi Sholeh Ma’mun Islamic Boarding School, on 22 October 2024.

The letter was criticized by a number of parties including | former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Mahfud MD. (P-5)

Interview with Political Analyst Dr. Maya Rahman on President ⁢Prabowo Subianto’s Recent Cabinet Meeting Remarks

Editor: Thank you for joining us today, ⁣Dr. ⁣Rahman. President Prabowo Subianto recently held a Cabinet Meeting⁤ where he emphasized‍ the⁤ need for⁢ ministers to prioritize ‌national interests over personal affairs. What do you think prompted these ‌remarks?

Dr. Rahman: Thank you for having me. I ⁤believe President Prabowo’s comments are a ⁤response to ongoing political dynamics⁤ in Indonesia, where⁢ personal interests often conflict with national goals. By addressing this issue publicly, he signals a desire to unify his ‍Cabinet towards a common purpose—focusing on the nation’s development rather than individual or partisan agendas.

Editor: It’s interesting that he acknowledged the existence of personal‍ political‍ interests among‍ his‌ ministers. How significant is this admission in the context of Indonesian politics?

Dr. Rahman: It’s quite significant. Acknowledging that ministers have their own political affiliations is‌ a brave move, as it reflects the complex landscape⁣ of Indonesian politics where ministers often come from diverse backgrounds. By recognizing this but urging them to set aside personal politics, Prabowo is attempting to foster a more collaborative and⁢ cohesive Cabinet, which is crucial for effective governance.

Editor: He stated, “The national interest is the independence and integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.” How do you⁣ interpret this statement in relation to his leadership style?

Dr. Rahman: That ⁢statement underscores Prabowo’s prioritization ‌of national unity and integrity. His leadership style appears to emphasize strong governance and a commitment to the nation’s stability. By framing the discussion around independence⁢ and national integrity, he seeks to bolster national pride and assert that individual ambitions ⁣should not compromise Indonesia’s sovereignty or ⁢development.

Editor: Moving forward, ⁢how do you expect his Cabinet to respond ⁢to this ‍call for prioritizing national interests?

Dr. Rahman: I anticipate that his‌ ministers will be more cautious in their actions and ⁣decisions, knowing that they are being urged to maintain focus on the⁤ collective goal. This could lead to more collaborative policies, but it also depends on how they navigate their personal ambitions alongside their Cabinet responsibilities. The success of this approach ‌will ultimately be measured by how effectively they can implement policies that benefit the public while minimizing internal conflicts.

Editor: Thank you, Dr. Rahman, for your insights on this critical topic in Indonesian politics.

Dr. Rahman: Thank you for having me. It was a ⁢pleasure to ⁣discuss‍ these important issues.
Ble to reinforce the importance of collaboration and unity within his administration. This could be seen as an effort to transcend party lines and focus on policies that are beneficial for all citizens, rather than for specific groups or interests.

Editor: Unity was a recurring theme in Prabowo’s message. Why do you think he considers this so crucial for the success of the nation?

Dr. Rahman: Unity is fundamental in any government, especially in a diverse country like Indonesia. Prabowo’s emphasis on collaboration among elites indicates that he recognizes the power dynamics at play within his Cabinet. When the leadership operates with a unified front, it enhances the chances of effectively addressing national issues. Moreover, it can foster stability, which is particularly important in a time when the country faces various challenges.

Editor: There seems to be a direct correlation with the recent controversy surrounding Yandri Susanto’s use of official letterhead for personal matters. How do you think this incident influenced Prabowo’s comments?

Dr. Rahman: Absolutely, the timing of Prabowo’s remarks is very telling. The controversy surrounding Yandri Susanto highlights the potential for conflicts of interest and misuse of authority within the Cabinet. By addressing this issue head-on, Prabowo not only distances himself from Susanto’s actions but also sets a standard for accountability among his ministers. It serves as a warning to prioritize ethical governance and public trust, as personal affairs should never interfere with their duties.

Editor: Lastly, what do you foresee as the potential outcomes of these remarks on Prabowo’s administration moving forward?

Dr. Rahman: If Prabowo can effectively instill this sense of cooperation and commitment to national interests within his Cabinet, it could lead to more robust policy-making and implementation. However, the challenge will be ensuring that this unity is maintained over time, especially with the complexities of individual ambitions and political pressures. His ability to navigate these dynamics will ultimately determine the success of his administration and the development agenda he envisions for Indonesia.

Editor: Thank you, Dr. Rahman for your insights. It’s clear that President Prabowo’s focus on unity and accountability could have significant implications for Indonesia’s political landscape.

Dr. Rahman: Thank you for the opportunity.
