PPC: Participates for the 2nd year in the recycling training program “The Green City”

The trainers of the program visited schools in the Attica Region and informed the students about the importance of recycling, as well as how they can recycle materials from 8 categories, placing them in the special bins of the recycling vehicle that visits the schools.

PPC, supporting for the second year the “THE GREEN CITY” program, promotes Quality Education (SDG 4), as a means of encouraging sustainable development, thus contributing to the reduction of waste, the saving of resources and the promotion of the Circular Economy model, in the context of achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.

Recycling at The Green City with “profit” green electricity from PPC

For the second consecutive year, PPC participates in the innovative recycling reward program “THE GREEN CITY” through the Green Pass service. The program aims to inform and raise awareness among citizens about recycling and its reward.

Citizens, after separating the materials to be recycled, deliver them to the Mobile Green Points that operate daily in Attica, as well as to the Smart Corners (Smart Houses and Smart Islands) and the fixed recycling points that operate 24/7. Depending on the type and weight of the materials, citizens earn points, which they can redeem at the program’s partner businesses.

As a reward, PPC offers the GreenPass service for free for one year to customers who collect 3,600 points through material recycling by implementing the program.

The GreenPass service is the trade name of the Guarantees of Origin of electricity produced from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and guarantees that as much energy as is consumed at home, the same amount is produced and captured by Renewable Energy Sources (RES).

In the three years of operation of the “THE GREEN CITY” program, more than 250,000 citizens have registered, who, through recycling, have contributed to saving at least 149,651 kg of CO2, saving 22,117 trees and conserving 34,476,000 liters of water.
