DESPITE being showered with pros and cons regarding the decision to accept the offer of a Mining Business Permit (IUP) for mining management, the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) will manage it with expertise and will not be reckless.

“God willing, Muhammadiyah will maintain its trust as best as possible and manage the mine to provide benefits to the community. If it turns out that the mafsadat and madlarat are greater than the benefits, Muhammadiyah will not be reckless,” said PP Muhammadiyah Secretary General Abdul Mu’ti when contacted, Monday ( 7/29).

In addition, he also considered that the pros and cons related to mining concessions are common. However, the community is expected not to make justifications and act a priori.

“Pros and cons are common. I know there are those who disagree. But there are quite a few who support. The media should report in a balanced way. Not just those who are against. We, the public, are not a priori and make justifications based on assumptions,” he said.

Previously, PP Muhammadiyah finally accepted the offer of a mining management permit in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) No. 25 of 2024 concerning the Implementation of Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities.

The consideration of accepting the permit is done without any pressure from any party and will return the IUP when later on there are more violations.

“With full responsibility, we will return the business permit to the government,” concluded Abdul. (Iam/Z-7)
