Pozdnyakov: the program for financing foreign coaches in Russia was suspended – 11/29/2022

MOSCOW, 29 November. /TASS/. The program for financing foreign coaches and specialists in the Russian national teams is currently suspended. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

“The vast majority of them (foreign coaches – TASS note) have now terminated relations with our federations for one reason – there are no international starts, there is no international cooperation,” Pozdnyakov said. – It has become problematic to fully engage and motivate these specialists for constant high-quality work. Even purely psychologically it is not easy for them. Therefore, we suspended the program for their financing, now the federations are working with those who decided to stay in Russia at their own expense.”

On February 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international sports federations prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. Many sports federations agreed with the recommendation, and Russia also lost the right to host a number of tournaments in various sports.
