Edwin Castro cracked the record jackpot of the Powerball lottery in the USA in November 2022. The 31-year-old has entrusted his younger brother Jesse (27), who works as a banker, with the management of his assets. Castro won $2.04 billion, of which he cashed out a lump sum of $997.6 million. Since then, he has regularly caused a stir with his real estate purchases.
As the New York Post reports, his parents can now look forward to a beautiful new property. The near-billionaire purchased a $4 million Japanese-inspired home in Altadena, California, the newspaper has learned. The villa has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The property totals 4,631 square feet and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains.

$47 million mansion in Bel Air
Compared to Castro’s other properties, this villa is a bargain. Since his historic lottery win, the 31-year-old has spent a total of $76 million on three mansions in California. His biggest purchase came in September, when he bought a $47 million estate with seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and an infinity pool in Bel Air, Los Angeles.

$25 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills
Castro also owns a $25 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills. The property has seven bedrooms and eleven bathrooms, a koi pond and an infinity pool with views of all of Los Angeles.

Despite his wealth and penchant for luxury villas, a source described him to the New York Post as “very down-to-earth.” The brothers’ friend says regarding Edwin and his brother Jesse: “They don’t like parties or go to clubs.” Edwin Castro still has to get used to the spotlight. “I’m sure there are a lot of people who are jealous of him – but winning the lottery mightn’t have happened to a nicer guy,” the friend is sure. Castro has given generous donations to numerous local charities.
Apparently he has already been targeted by fraudsters and is therefore careful not to flaunt his wealth in public. However, that doesn’t seem to stop him from pursuing an expensive hobby. The 31-year-old clearly has a passion for sports cars and has been seen driving a $200,000 Porsche 911 in Los Angeles. However, his favorite car remains a green 1970s Porsche 911 SC, which is a family heirloom.
