The Carrefour City store in rue Gambetta closed due to a “general power cut”, traffic lights that no longer work… Since regarding 7:30 a.m., this Sunday, June 11, 2023several streets of downtown of Cherbourg (Manche) are affected by a blackout.
According to the agents Enedis mobilized on the spot, it would go from Court Mary until Boulevard Mendes-France. Part of the electrical installations no longer work in this sector, in the streets Albert Mathieu, Gambetta and Maréchal-Foch but also on the boulevard Schumann.
Failure of an underground cable
The fault of the breakdown of an underground cable which feeds these installations. Thus, the lights located at the intersection of rue Albert Mathieu, boulevard Schuman and rue Gambetta no longer work. This would not be linked to the work of the new generation Bus, nor to the thunderstorms.
The Enedis teams hope to restore power by the end of the day, but without certainty for the moment. On his site internetEnedis also estimates a “recovery of electricity” around midnight.
