And suddenly blackness, no more sound, no images. Bad surprise for customers of UGC Ciné Cité de Vélizy this Saturday evening. Around 7:30 p.m., the staff invited them to evacuate the dark rooms and head towards the square. The 1,200 people calmly followed the instructions, a little sad to see their projection thus interrupted.
The reason: a power outage which affected the cinema, but not only. The neighboring Vélizy 2 shopping center was partially affected. It couldn’t have come at a worse time, 24 hours before Christmas Eve. At the Yves Rocher boutique, sellers and customers were suddenly plunged into darkness.
“We closed the doors so that new customers did not enter the store and stayed with those who were shopping. Nothing worked anymore. It lasted about ten minutes,” says a store manager.
Many customers waiting at checkouts
The Mango ready-to-wear store suffered the same fate. “It was handicapping, especially on a Saturday and moreover a few hours before Christmas, even if it only lasted about ten minutes. We tried to restrict flows despite the persistence of customers. We made them wait at the checkouts,” explains a representative of the brand.
On the other hand, the Jeff chocolate shop in Bruges was spared. “We had a microcut. It lasted just a few seconds. Consequently, we were not impacted,” confides a saleswoman. The same goes for the Carrefour supermarket, which in any case has its own generators. He only suffered a few microcuts.
The Enedis teams intervened immediately. The outage affected an electrical transformer, a few thousand customers were affected at the height of the episode. The power returned in less than an hour and a second outage occurred at 12:30 a.m.,” assures the company. However, on the website infocoupure.frresidents were still complaining of being without power this Sunday.
