Powell returns, Clippers beat Suns for 3rd straight win

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Norman Powell scored 24 points following two months off the court, Paul George had 19 points in three quarters to top 15,000 for his career and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Los Angeles Clippers 113-109 on Wednesday. Phoenix Suns, leaders of the NBA.

In a game where no one was on the line, Phoenix rested Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton and Jae Crowder in their second game in two days. The Suns already set a franchise record for wins in a season with 63 wins when they eliminated the Lakers from the play-in on Tuesday.

The Clippers steamrolled the Suns for three quarters and led 39 points into the third. But the Phoenix reserves scored 48 points in the last one until they ran out of time.

Ish Wainwright had a career-high 20 points to lead Phoenix. Aaron Holiday added 16 points and Bismack Biyombo had 14 points and 12 rebounds. The only starter with double figures was Payne with 13 points. The Suns’ bench outscored the Clippers’ reserves 66-58.
