More than 20 brands of energy drinks are being recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), due to their caffeine content and labeling issues that can potentially present risk for the health.

The caffeine content and labeling requirements would therefore be non-compliant, the CFIA said on its website.

“High levels of caffeine can have adverse health effects in children and people who are pregnant, nursing and those who are sensitive to caffeine. Exercising while consuming caffeine can lead to adverse health effects.

Energy drinks had already been recalled last July, before the list was expanded several times during August. The affected products “must not be consumed, used, sold, served or distributed”, underlined the CFIA.

Brands under recall include 3D Alphaland, 5 Hour, Celsius, GFuel, Prime, Sting, Bang, C4, Cocaine, Fast Twitch, Ghost, Tyse Fuel, Alani Nu, Raze Energy, Monster , Dragonball Z, Inuyasha, Liquid Rage, Shakura.

Bob Ross, Mega Pachi, My Hero Academia, Sonic the Hedgehog, Toxic Rick, Zoa and Mtn Dew Energy brands are also on the list.

The CFIA also clarified that some of the side effects of excessive caffeine consumption can include insomnia, irritability, headaches and nervousness.
