U.S. Presidential climate envoy John Kerry hinted on Wednesday (19th) that President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping may meet later this year.

After arriving in Beijing on Sunday (16th), Corey started his last day of visit to China on Wednesday. In his opening remarks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, he said: “We are committed to working closely with you to help our president attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference. Substantial results can be achieved at APEC.”

Curry was referring to the APEC leaders’ summit in San Francisco in November. According to previous reports by foreign media, Xi Jinping may attend the summit and meet with Biden during his visit to the United States.

Despite this, Han Zheng did not mention the study session in his opening remarks.

Curry’s trip to China this time is the third senior US official to visit China in the past month, following Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

The impact of global warming is worrisome as average temperatures around the world, including parts of China and the United States, soared to record highs this summer. Corey also called on the United States and China to make more progress in climate cooperation before the next United Nations climate conference, COP28, during this visit.
