This allows, since its launch in June 2021, to travel, in second class, for a maximum of 39 euros for a journey of less than 1h30, 59 euros for a journey between 1h30 and three hours, and 79 euros for a journey of more than three hours. Increase in costs and purchase of trains
To justify such a possibility, Alain Krakovitch evokes the increase in costs (+13% between 2022 and 2023, according to him, “because of inflation and particularly that of energy”) and the need for SNCF to “release profits if we want to be able to buy trains.”
“We want to continue to (buy trains) even more. We also want to extend the life of our trains. This is the best solution to lower prices.”
