Postponed to Tuesday Game 3 of the World Series

PHILADELPHIA — Game 3 of the World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros was rained out Monday night, with the series tied, pushing the entire Fall Classic schedule back a day.

Rain caused Game 3 to be played Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park. Weather conditions are forecast to be better.

A few boos might be heard in the stadium when the postponement was announced, regarding an hour before the first pitch scheduled for Halloween night.

The fourth game will be played on Wednesday night and the fifth was left for Thursday, the day that had been planned for a possible trip back to Houston. Game 5 will compete with an NFL matchup featuring none other than the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the Houston Texans.

The teams practiced on the field before the tarp was put up around 5 p.m., regarding three hours before the first pitch.

The fourth game was scheduled for Wednesday and the fifth game will be played on Thursday, the day that had been set to travel. Game 5 will compete with an NFL matchup featuring none other than the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the Houston Texans.

The teams will have a day to travel on Friday, if necessary. That was the scheduled day for the sixth game.

With the change of dates, the sixth game was left for Saturday and the seventh will take place on Sunday.

After two games in Houston, the World Series moved to Philadelphia on Monday. The Astros had right-hander Lance McCullers assigned to start once morest Phillies right-hander Noah Syndergaard.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said McCullers will remain the Game 3 starter in the event of a rain delay. He will be followed by Cristian Javier on Wednesday and Justin Verlander in Game 5 on Thursday.

The Phillies, meanwhile, have changed plans and will now go with Ranger Suarez on Tuesday and Aaron Nola in Game 4 on Wednesday.

Memorably, the Phillies were crowned 2008 World Series champions with a win in a Game 5 that took three days to complete due to rain.
