Apple released watchOS 10 in September 2023, introducing a number of innovative features, although some have been delayed until later versions. Among the expected features, those aimed at users of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models stand out.
At the time of launch, six long-awaited features were delayed, but the Cupertino company worked to gradually release these features through subsequent updates.
Among the initially delayed features available with watchOS 10.1 are double-tap gestures, allowing users to control Apple Watch Series 9 with just one hand, performing common actions quickly and conveniently. In addition, the NameDrop function, which facilitates the sharing of contact information between iPhones, has also been integrated into the Apple Watch Series 6 and later models, SE (1st and 2nd generation), and Apple Watch Ultra.
The next update, with watchOS 10.2, brought features like on-device queries to Siri, making interactions faster and safer for Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users. Other notable additions include the Apple Fitness+ Audio Focus feature, allowing you to prioritize the volume of music or instructor voices in Fitness+ workouts.
One notable detail that went unnoticed was the addition of media suggestions at the top of the Smart Stack when no content is playing on a nearby HomePod (2nd generation) or HomePod mini.
This feature, exclusive to users of the aforementioned models, adds three song, album or playlist suggestions when approaching the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
