Aurélien Rousseau, Minister of Health and Prevention, received on Tuesday November 7 the opinion of COVARS relating to post-Covid syndrome, its medical, social and economic issues. This COVARS opinion, the writing of which was coordinated by Professor Xavier Lescure and Yvanie Caille, highlights medical wandering and allows us to put the emphasis back on the need for patient care. On this occasion, the minister reminded Professor Brigitte Autran of her full commitment to providing a response adapted to patients.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had major effects on health and significant psycho-socio-economic repercussions. Although the pandemic phase is over, its effects continue to be felt on public health. Thus, following infection with Covid-19, some people present persistent symptoms.
“Faced with this public health issue, numerous research projects are underway in France and around the world to try to understand the epidemiological, therapeutic and social consequences of Covid. At the same time, the Government is fully mobilizing so that pain and suffering of patients be taken into account,” recalled Aurélien Rousseau.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has been mobilized since the start of the epidemic to provide a response adapted to the needs of the people concerned, reduce medical wandering, facilitate and harmonize the organization of care across the board. of the territory. As such:
- A patient information and guidance platform for care will be set up on the Santé.fr website.
- Each regional health agency has mobilized on its territory a coordinated care system, allowing patients to be guided.
- The minister contacted the High Authority for Health (HAS), in August 2023, to dispose of his recommendations around the establishment of organized and coordinated care pathways for post-Covid syndrome. The objective is to clarify the role of each professional, the articulation between the different actors and levels of patient care, according to the nature of their disorders and the complexity of their situation.
During his meeting with the president of COVARS, the Minister of Health and Prevention announced that he would bring together a new steering committee to monitor these actions at the beginning of 2024, once the HAS opinion delivered.
