Post Covid-19. Toulouse-Blagnac airport takes off again

The evolution of the health crisis has enabled Toulouse-Blagnac airport to attract passengers once more in 2021. Thus, 3.8 million passengers passed through the Pink City terminal last year.

This is the year of recovery. The reduction of health constraints paves the way for travel. Travelers therefore once once more found their way to Toulouse-Blagnac airport. Besides, 3.82 million passengers passed through the Pink City terminal in 2021. This represents 39.7% of attendance in 2019, before the health crisis. That year, Toulouse-Blagnac had received 9.62 million passengers.

Toulouse-Orly, the busiest line in Europe

International traffic was more affected by border restrictions and is only at 29.3% of the number of passengers in 2019. This traffic is more exposed to the differences in health policies between France and other countries, which can deter those wishing to travel. Domestic traffic held up better. It is at 49.9% of the 2019 level, which represents 63.5% of the airport’s total traffic.

The Toulouse-Orly line is reputed to be the busiest in Europe. And it remains the one that generates the most movement with one million passengers. Besides, traffic with the two Paris airports represents 1.5 million passengers, i.e. 40.4% of the platform’s activity. In the regions, the Toulouse-Lyon line generates the most traffic with nearly 190,000 passengers transported.

A favorable period for projects for Toulouse-Blagnac airport

“The 2021 financial report reflects the impact of the health crisis on the dealer’s activity. Turnover amounts to 90.5 million euros (compared to 84.4 million euros in 2020) and the current operating profit of the ATB group is down 1.6 million euros”, according to a statement of the airport.

It prevents, ATB is planning for the post-crisis period and moving forward on several projects of its five-year strategic plan, CARE (Conquer Boldly to Rebound Together). Among them, in the terminal, a premium circuit which optimizes travel time to the plane has been set up for business customers. On the runway side, a car park dedicated to boarding and disembarking on foot and two associated boarding lounges are now operational in hall D.
