It was probably the biggest data protection scandal that Austria had ever seen: in 2019 it became known that the Post had determined the party affinities of large sections of the Austrian population. The company linked address data with statistics from surveys so that advertisers can send out their brochures in a targeted manner. Now, four years later, the question of whether Swiss Post has to pay damages remains open, despite a ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ).
