The Queen’s last letter

When Elizabeth II († 96) died on September 8th, Helena (8) was very sad. And then suddenly she got mail!

The girl from Auerbach (Bavaria) has often been on vacation in England with her mother (43) and British father (39) and became a fan of the Queen. Helena congratulated Elizabeth II on her 70th throne anniversary in June, sending her two self-made pictures and a letter:

“Dear Queen, I wish you the best anniversary, your corgis are the best little dogs in the world. Your Helena.” She waited three months for an answer.

Then, two days following the Queen’s death, she was surprised to receive a card with the Queen’s thanks. The postmark is September 7th – the day before her death.

“I was very happy regarding the card,” says Helena to BILD am SONNTAG: “I hang it on the wall in my room.”
