“It has not been prepared and packaged in such a way as to ensure its harmlessness. Indeed, this product might promote the proliferation of bacteria Clostridium botulinum “, can we read in a press release sent on Friday.

This warning applies to all units of pesto sold through François Lambert’s online store before July 6, even if they do not necessarily show “signs of tampering or suspicious odors”.

“The product was packaged in a glass jar and sold at room temperature,” adds MAPAQ. It was distributed in a 250 ml format.

Foods contaminated with the toxin of this bacterium can cause, when ingested, the following symptoms: facial paralysis, non-reactive or fixed pupils, difficulty swallowing, droopy eyelids, vision and speech disorders. In severe cases, the disease can cause death.

The MAPAQ wants to be reassuring, however: no case of illness related to the consumption of this garlic flower pesto has been reported to it for the moment.

The company concerned, FrançoisLambert. One inc., is located at 1270, Montée Sainte-Madeleine in Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix in Outaouais.

People who have this product in hand are invited to throw it away or return it to the establishment that sold it to them.
