The Quebec company Evive has been recalling its “Super Functional Smoothie – Immunity” since Friday because this product might cause cyanide poisoning.

The product would contain raw elderberries, which contain cyanogenic glycosides, which can cause poisoning, according to a press release from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), released Friday. If you believe you have been ill following consuming a recalled product, contact your doctor, the federal agency shared.
In 150 g format, the recalled product has the codes H202131213 2023 MA 06, H202132113 2023 MA 18 and H202134213 2023 JN 08 and is sold online.
This recall was triggered by consumer complaints and there have been reports of illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is currently conducting a food safety investigation which may result in the recall of additional products.
The CFIA is ensuring that industry removes the recalled product from the marketplace.
