A bone was found in Byron Bay, Australia by a diver near a wreck near where Théo Hayez, from Overijse, disappeared in May 2019.
Nothing indicates that it is those of the young man of 18 years old at the time but analyzes in particular DNA are in progress. Several people have been reported missing in the area in recent years.

A body never found

Theo Hayez, then 18-year-old resident of Overijse, had been on a trip to Australia since late 2018. He was last seen on the evening of May 31, 2019 in the seaside resort of Byron Bay when he was due to return to Belgium at the beginning of June. That evening, Théo, known to be a calm and cautious boy, was supposed to go back to his youth hostel but we never saw him there once more. His phone had been detected one last time by a terminal the next day near the lighthouse northeast of the town. Despite searches for months by Australian and Belgian police and local volunteers, his body was never found.
The case has already left the door open to multiple speculations regarding this disappearance in an Australian tourist hotspot.
