Positive numbers for Barça at the start of the transfer market

The FC Barcelona is in full construction of its squad for the 2022-2023 season and there are many changes that are expected for the Catalans. It will be key that a large number of exits take place with the intention of freeing up salary mass and space in the locker room. A challenge that will be difficult to assume. It remains to be seen, in any case, if it will be enough for the Catalans to go out to the transfer market to buy.

It is worth remembering that the situation is more difficult than it seemed. Joan Laporta confirmed it a few days ago during an interview offered to L’Esportiu de Catalunya: “Even if we generated certain income, LaLiga’s criteria would not allow us to have a salary margin. We respect the rules, but we understand that they are strict and are a comparative offense with other countries. We are talking to LaLiga regarding these issues, but we see a very entrenched position. Plain and simple: according to LaLiga, not even entering 600 million euros might we have a salary margin.”

Hence the imperial need of the Catalans to sell and generate income (excessively). The great objective of Barça is to carry out an exhaustive cleaning to have a salary margin and the task has already begun, although almost by drops. He has completed his first operation, the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa, for twenty million euros and the second is expected to be completed shortly, for seven ‘kilos’, from Ferran Jutglà to the Bruges Club.

This gives a total of 27 million, for the five that have been spent so far on the incorporation of Pablo Torre from Racing de Santander. Also arriving, on the other hand, will be Franck Kessié and Andreas Christensen, who will arrive as free agents from AC Milan and Chelsea, respectively. Now, it’s time for the hardest work: get more jobs to generate more income and, thus, salary margin.

June 30, key date

Barca’s operations must be finalized, for the most part, before June 30, date on which the current fiscal year will end. The need for the Blaugrana is to have a good number of sales to make money and be able to have positive results. The task will be excessively complicated, but there is no other alternative for Mateu Alemany and company.
