Brussels hoteliers have drawn an “overall positive” assessment at the end of the two weeks of Flemish spring holidays (April 3-16). The Brussels Hotels Association (BHA) was indeed relatively satisfied with the occupancy rate of hotels in the capital.

Hotels in the Brussels-Capital Region posted an occupancy rate of 58.8% during this period. “The balance sheet is generally positive even if the weeks have been more hollow than the weekends, in particular because of the reduction in business tourism”, specified Rodolphe Van Weyenbergh, general secretary of the BHA. The Saturday of the Easter weekend nevertheless recorded a high occupancy rate, reaching 83%.

Autoworld drew the same positive conclusion, despite the reform of school timetables. The museum, nestled in the Parc du Cinquantenaire, saw its attendance increase by 30% compared to the same period last year. “We didn’t really feel the impact of the holiday shift on museum attendance during the Easter holidays,” said Cindy Legros, press officer for the National Automobile Museum. “This can perhaps be explained by the fact that foreign visitors were also on leave during those two weeks,” she punctuated.
