Portuguese first division club Arouca announces the acquisition of Bayern Munich midfielder Taichi Fukui on loan with an option to buy – Sponichi Annex Soccer

On July 4th, Portuguese first-division club Arouca announced the signing of midfielder Taichi Fukui (19) on loan from Bayern Munich. The agreement includes an option to buy.

Fukui, known for his exceptional passing skills, joined Bayern Munich permanently from Tosu in January 2023. He spent a year playing for the club’s B team. In January of this year, he moved to Portimonense in Portugal’s top division on loan, where he played 11 games and scored one goal.

The promising attacking midfielder reportedly received several offers, including from Arouca. He ultimately chose to join the rising club, which reached the first division for the first time in their history in 2013. Fukui, a future national team prospect, will continue to develop his skills in Portugal during the new season.

◇Fukui Taichi Born on July 15, 2004, 19 years old, from Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. Fukui began playing soccer at his hometown club Kurihama FC. After attending the Barcelona Academy Fukuoka School, he joined Tosu U-12 in February 2013. In 2021, he was registered as a second-class player for the top team and made his professional debut in the Levain Cup in March of the same year at 16 years and 7 months, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history. He played in four league matches and signed a professional contract at 17 in March 2022. In January 2023, he joined Bayern Munich permanently. For the 2023-2024 season, he moved to Portimonense on loan. Fukui was selected for the Japanese national team from the U-15 generation and participated in the U-20 World Cup in 2023. He is 174 cm tall, weighs 70 kg, and is right-footed.
