From September 2014 to January 2016, Mr. Chau was the Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Party Committee, Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Justice. In January 2016, he was the Rector of Hanoi Law University and in June 2016 he was the Deputy Minister of Justice cum Rector of Hanoi Law University.In March 2018, the Secretariat appointed Mr. Chau to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee.On April 17, 2018, the People’s Council of Hau Giang province elected Mr. Chau to hold the position of Chairman of the province. In May 2021, Mr. Chau was Deputy Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Party Committee
On June 30, 2021, Mr. Chau held the position of Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2019-2024 term.
