Faced with an imposing tourist traffic, the small village of Portofino, in Italy, has decided to ban visitors from stopping to walk in certain areas of the city, report several Italian media.

Located near Genoa, Portofino has only 400 inhabitants, but welcomes thousands of tourists every day, especially on weekends.

Since Easter weekend, the new regulations ensure that tourists must always be on the move when in two “red” zones located in the center of the village. The rule applies between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will end on October 15.

Recalcitrant visitors are liable to a fine of 275 euros, or more than 400 Canadian dollars.
