FC Porto caused a big surprise on Wednesday evening in the eighth final of the Champions League by beating Arsenal. Things went completely wrong for the English in Portugal just before the end, with the schlemiel of the first half striking a few seconds before the end.

Porto – Arsenal was not exactly a match with many opportunities, the biggest one was clearly for the Portuguese. After a strong action by Ajax mercenary Francisco Conceição, Arsenal did not get the ball away properly, following which striker Galeno had two excellent opportunities.
First he hit the post hard next to goalkeeper David Raya, the Brazilian then got the rebound wide. It was all witnessed by referee Serdar Gözübüyük, who was appointed for the match in Estádio do Dragão.
It seemed to remain at 0-0 for a long time, until deep into extra time. Galeno, of all people, struck with a delightful arc over Raya, but there was not enough time for Arsenal to repair the damage. The Londoners did not shoot a single time between the posts in this match and were therefore quite disappointing.
Porto and Arsenal will face each other once more on March 12, this time in London. The Premier League club will have to work hard to avoid a European disappointment. Arsenal is at the top in the competition.
