Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) said there will be free weekly swim lessons at all outdoor pools this year due to its programs and the pool tax.

“The Parks Local Option Levy has allowed PP&R to increase staffing to once once more offer a variety of recreation programs,” says Portland Commissioner of Culture and Livability Dan Ryan. “That includes swimming activities at all the city’s pools and the popular Summer Free For All. I am delighted to see the tax continue to provide such a wonderful quality of life for Portlanders.”

Officials stressed that they still have open positions for those seeking employment.

It should be noted that Portland has four indoor pools that operate year-round and the project for the new North Portland Aquatic Center is advancing.
