Tarragona, Spain (ots/PRNewswire) – PortAventura World has opened its longest season, which will last almost 300 days, and expects more than 5.3 million visitors, having already reached 5.1 million in 2022. The resort, which will be celebrating its first carnival over consecutive weekends modeled following those in Rio de Janeiro and Venice, is hoping to win back international visitors for good this season, with estimates of up to a million French and half a million Brits and Irish going out.
Explained at the presentation of the season David García, General Manager of PortAventura World: „We are starting the new season with a lot of enthusiasm, energy and great news. Having wrapped up 5.1 million visitors and record sales in 2022, we are clearly poised for growth this year. Therefore, we are open every month of the year and have continued to invest in the customer through new products such as the carnival and the new attraction that will open in the spring”.
The pre-season has allowed the company to expand its workforce, hiring up to 500 new employees, peaking at 3,800 active employees at key times of the season with campaigns such as the resort’s first Carnival, Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
Also in 2023, the company will continue its sustainable growth and reinforce its strategy of innovation and diversification. The company, which acquired and began operating two off-resort hotels in 2022, has announced that it will remain focused on growth in this new space.
One of PortAventura World’s most important innovations in the first half of 2023 will be the opening of the world’s first Dark Ride “Uncharted”, developed in collaboration with Sony Entertainment and with an investment of more than 25 million euros Launching this new attraction, the company is preparing to pilot an immersive virtual reality (VR) experience for people with disabilities, with the goal of advancing the way these customers experience the park.
PortAventura World will also continue to advance its sustainability commitments in the area of ESG. In this context, the company will inaugurate its PortAventura Solar photovoltaic system, which will provide a third of the resort’s energy needs.
