The City of São Paulo, through the Department of Economic Development and Labor, joined Microsoft to offer a series of free professional courses on the Portal do Cate – www.cate.prefeitura.sp.gov.br. The Online Training Hub will be enhanced with new courses made available by Microsoft as part of its Employment Skills program.
The courses are divided into 2 tracks: Digital Literacy, aimed at people who have difficulties accessing the internet and using electronic devices; and Microsoft 365, which includes productivity tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner, PowerBI, Power Automate, MS Project, OneDrive, OneNote, Forms and SharePoint.
This Friday, March 10, a meeting was held at Microsoft headquarters that sealed the partnership. The meeting was attended by the secretary of Economic Development and Work, Aline Cardoso, and the deputy secretary, Armando Junior, who were able to learn regarding the organizational structure and commitments of Microsoft, presented by the vice-president of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Alessandra Del Debbio, accompanied by the leader of Philanthropy, Lucia Rodrigues, and the Director of Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, Marcio Gonçalves.
“We are experiencing a great period of economic recovery in which companies are looking to catch their breath and resume the rhythm that existed before the pandemic, and for that, it is necessary to hire qualified professionals for certain functions. At Portal do Cate, we have the mission of helping workers who are looking for a job opportunity, teaching them everything from the basics, how to use a computer and the internet, to specialization in professional courses in different areas”, highlights the Secretary of Development Economy and Work, Aline Cardoso.
The 7 Microsoft courses that will be made available on the Cate Portal are: How to Work with Computers and Mobile Devices; How to Work and Collaborate Online; Introduction to Microsoft 365; Collaborating with Microsoft 365; Optimizing your work with Microsoft 365; Managing projects with Microsoft 365; and Managing data with Microsoft 365.
In addition, Portal Cate will link to a selection of free LinkedIn Learning courses, which are also part of the Employment Skills program: Administrative assistant; Business Analysis; Software development; Interpersonal Skills for Work and Entrepreneurship.
Employment Skills Program
The pandemic changed the world, it transformed the way we do business and the job market. Adapting to these changes requires providing people with the skills they need to fill these jobs and ensure inclusive economic opportunities for society at large. The partnership between Microsoft and Portal Cate addresses this issue and offers courses in two areas of knowledge free of charge to all people in the city of São Paulo.
The first of these is Digital Literacy, which was developed to serve the public that has no knowledge and has difficulties with the digital world and the use of computers. Training is divided into thematic modules, which address topics on: the operation of computers, internet access, online communication, creation of digital content, security and responsibility on the internet, among others. Developed by Microsoft, the courses are completely free, requiring only a registration on the Portal do Cate, which can be done through the address www.cate.prefeitura.sp.gov.br. The process is simple and practical, it is only necessary to fill out a form.
The second knowledge track focuses on skills related to Microsoft 365 and its various applications. Courses range from basic concepts such as, for example, creating Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and writing emails in Outlook, to more advanced knowledge such as Microsoft Project, PowerBI and all the Teams features.
